- Does DigitalDefensiveDriving.com offer a Classroom Course? Right now, classroom instruction is cancelled due to COVID, BUT our online class is available for NY and NJ. Register here. Our classroom course remains the state's premier program, offering practical information and techniques to avoid collisions and violations. You will learn to choose safe, responsible and lawful driving behaviors.
- How do take the course online? This 6-hour course is pretty straightforward. You only need a stable internet connection and your phone, tablet, or computer to take it. We also need to guarantee your full focus and uninterrupted time for the course.
- What are the point and insurance reduction benefits? You'll receive up to a 10% discount on your motor vehicle collision and liability insurance premium each year for up to three years. Don't wait until your premium expires. The discount applies to the base rate of your automobile and motorcycle insurance premiums, provided you are listed as the principal operator. Check with your insurance carrier for specific details on your total savings. Up to a four-point reduction on your driving record. The Department of Motor Vehicles, may also allow you to receive up to a four-point reduction on your driving record. The course may be taken once every 18 months for the point-reduction benefit.
- Who's eligible for these benefits? New drivers just receiving their driver's license, Experienced New York drivers, Drivers listed as the principal operator on their automobile and/or motorcycle insurance policies, Violators who have incurred points on their driving record, Novice drivers just receiving their driver's permit.
- How do you get your insurance discount or point reduction? Upon completion, American Safety Inc. will mail a Certificate of Completion to the address you provided and will electronically notify the NYS DMV. If you are eligible, the DMV will automatically apply the point reduction to your driving record. You are responsible for submitting the Certificate of Completion to your insurance company, who will automatically apply the discount to your policy.
